Description

The A tube is a derivitave of the RCA UV201A which was developed by the General Electric Co in October 1922. It was announced to the public at the New York Radio Show two months later. Following this announcement, many companies made the tube with a multitude of brand names and type numbers, most of which included the main designation 201a. A few of these manufacturers made what they called the type A. The commercial life of the type A was short lived as, when the new and improved UX201A was announced in August 1925, the type identification was discontinued.
