Description |
In the manufacture of commercially available Audions in 1909 an anomaly occurred whereby some tubes performed at a much higher level than others on test. The standard tubes were referred to as S grade and sold at a price that was affordable for some customers. The higher performing tube was called X grade and sild for a higher price. It is not known how long this practice continued. The two tubes could did not have any way of being identified from each other.
