Description in "The Saga of Marconi Osram Valve":

"DET7 and DET8, unlike the previous DET valves in the sequence, the DET7/8 were pentodes. They were the direct equivalent PT25 receiving valve with oxide coared filament but used carbonised nickel anodes to aid the dissipation of 25 watts. The carbonisation process used acetylene and produced dull grey rather than black colour. These were small valves, pear shaped with bakelite bases and were identical except for the fact that the DET7 used a 5-pin base with internally connected suppressor grid whereas the DET8 had a 7-pin base allowing access to the suppressor grid for modulation purposes."
