Pure tungsten filament in a coaxial cylindrical, zirconium coated nickel anode. The diode was intended as classroom demo, for laboratory studies on high-vacuum electric conduction phenomena, as:
- Limitation of current by space charge.
- Relation between temperature and electron emission.
- The effect of magnetic fields on electronic current.
