Description |
One of the very few German multi-cavity magnetron from the war. With its 18-cavity anode block, it could be considered a scaled-down version of the LMS12. As for the latter one, it looks an original German design, not a copy of American or British captured K-band types. The system of resonators is placed transversely with respect to the tube axis. Anode and cathode were assembled on a ceramic disc and then inserted into the upper sleeve and brazed to it. Anode was conduction-cooled through the sleeve to a suitable radiating mount. We could assume that German technicians had devised some kind of feedback loop for the current flowing in the electro-magnet, in order to stabilize the magnetron operation and prevent mode confusion.
- 12 to 14 kV at 6 to 10 A input pulses
- 1 microsecond pulses, 0.001 duty at 1.625 cm wavelength, about 18.5 GHz
- 5 kW output pulses at 3000 gauss field
First announced in September 1944, only few units built. No known use.
