Description

30 channels electrostatically focused and deflected radial decoder/demultiplexer. It is capable of decoding one out of 29 input channels transmitted over a single carrier in multiplexing or telemetering applications. The 5730 has a 30 separate anode leads, an input lead common to 29 control grids and a separate lead to the thirtieth control grid. The rotation of the electron beam from one position to the next is accomplished by applying a 6-phase a.c. voltage to six screen grid segments

The 5730 is the demultiplexer in a 29 channel transmission system which includes the encoder 5729. The separate grid is used to synchronize the decoding operations. Description of the system is given in the attached documentation from the TCA archives.
