Description

This tube was designed at the de Forest laboratory in High Bridge, The Bronx New York in the latter part of 1918. It has the anode from a wire lead at one end and the filament and grid leads from the other end. It is entirely tubular in shape but has a widening of the bulb adjacent to the element assembly to allow space for it and also to reduce heat so the bulb would not be damaged. The de Forest type OT200 transmitter used two of these tubes. The tube is illustrated on page 128 of Tyne's "Saga of the Vacuum Tube" and page 129 shows the two tube transmitter. It was replaced by the 1G in 1920
