Description

According to Sibley abd to the US Navy Vacuum Tube Cross-Reference, it was the Canadian equivalent of the British 'Sutton tube'. Sibley adds its direct equivalence with NR89. Probably one of the solutions experimented around the mid 1941 at REL as local oscillator for the 10-cm GL3C prototype, when it was clear that the WE oscillator was not yet ready.

We can assume that prototypes were  built to the British design by Rogers. Almost certainly its tuning range was similar to that of NR89, matching at its center the frequency of E1189 at 2800 MHz plus 45 MHz IF.

Probably replaced by REL Type 8 in volume production.
