Description

Work started on development of this tube at the GE laboratories in the Fall of 1924. The final product had a thoriated tungsten filament and was designated UV216A. It was redesignated and announced as the UV216B in QST in October 1925. This redesignation was to avoid the similarity of the type 216A made by Western Electric at the time. The tube was made by several other companies during its commercial life.
