In the fifties, when the G envelope had been discontinued, Fivre, Marconi and other Italian manufacturers offered as replacement for servicing old radio sets this tubular version, either with a G suffix or with a GT/G suffix. Tubular G or GT/G types were taller than the GT ones, same height of the old domed G, to leave unchanged the seating of the wire going to the top cap of the tube.
