1 Für die 6M7G ist die kanadische Röhre 10E/11402 einsetzbar. Die Werte der Heizung unterscheiden sich unwesentlich.

Lieber Herr Strampe und Gruppe,

Die Röhre 10E/11402 ist nur die Britische Name fuer die CV1056 und VR56 und ist die EF36, OM5.

Sie sind nicht ganz wie die 6M7G!

Hallo Herr Strampe

Dear Mr Roschy, Mr Strampe and Collectors,

Please excuse my reply in English!

May I suggest one possibility for the Canadian Tube?  There are many tubes with CV VR VT and 10E markings made for the UK - by the Canadian company Rogers in particular.

The UK Government and Military bought valves (tubes) from many countries.  Sometimes because they wanted a tube which was not manufactured in the UK, sometimes because they wanted additional quantities.

The CV and other designations are really only a specification and a stock reference!  Tubes were tested against that specification and if they passed all tests then they could be labelled.  Any manufacturer could submit samples.  (This testing applies mainly to the later CV types, but that is the principle).

Kind regards to everyone,

Roy

Hallo Herr Roschy

  6 Dear Roy
We are very glad to have here your professional help, thank you.
Can you introduce to the "pair" the right relationship which is shure not "equal" (=) but you know the differences better than we do.

If you miss a special type of 2relation" I will gladly introduce it - if rather often useful.

Hallo Herr Strampe,

Is the 6M7 Variable Mu?

I do not have any manufacturer's data or curves.

My only reference is the Vade Mecum and this does not list it it the VM section.

Just to clarify,  Many thanks,

Kind regards,

Roy

Hallo Herr Strampe,

Hello Roy,

sure, the 6M7 has vary- µ characteristics !

The 6M7 is derived out of the EF9 (or EF39), but, in order to match with the usual octal valve specifications, it is fitted with a 0.3 A- heater.
After its appearance in 1940 it has successfully superseded the 6K7 in the French market and became the leading octal IF valve then.

One can operate the 6M7 under virtually the same conditions as the EF9:
Va= 250 V, Vg2= 100V, Vg1= -2.5 V, Ia= 6.5 mA, Ig2= 1.7 mA, S(gm) = 2.4 mA/V,

however the screen voltage can be increased up to 125 V, then gm raises to 3.4 mA/V :

Va= 250 V, Vg2= 125V, Vg1= -2.5 V, Ia= 10.5 mA, Ig2= 2.8 mA, S(gm) = 3.4 mA/V .

As long as the 6M7 is operated with Vg2= 100V max, it can easily replaced by an EF39. But if it is operated with Vg2= 125 V, an EF39 may probably be overloaded then.

Best Regards,
Jacob

Dear Jacob,

Many thanks indeed for taking the trouble.

I thought that that was so but I am ignorant of the French tubes and only have the usual data collections.

It just goes to confirm that there are many  wrong data in these third party listings, and also of the amount of checking that has to be done on our own data.

Thank you again for your advice,

Kind regards,

Roy

Dear Roy,

I fully agree with you how disappointingly wrong many valves data listings are, when it comes to foreign areas or markets.

One particularly annoying thing is, for example, that they cannot distinguish between Mazda-UK and Mazda-France, two companies which has nothing at all to do with each other.
This leads to such nonsense, where valves like 6E8, 6M7 or 6AF7 are claimed as being British valves, completely ignoring the Mazda-France company. This in spite as Mazda-France had the biggest market share in France and was virtually the same what Mullard was in the UK.

Best Regards,
Jacob

13 There will be much work involved before we can say "we are better", but I see that many efforts are done in the right way. Maybe we have still to find some specialists we have already for that, splitting the interest for GB, France, USA, GErmany, others.

But we need also books from makers with data tables to scan and upload to the valves/tubes. This can be done with not so specialised persons if well guided. Who will look out for them?

An other attempt will be to mark the first real series as "first year in series" and to check models which are brought in for years before ;-)

Dear Ernst and Jacob,

We certainly agree on the problems!  Yes, Mazda was unfortunate.  I believe that France was first, so it is surprising - and there was Adzam.

Having a "curator" for each country or country group e.g. (A+D+ Ch?) is probably essential since the divisions are very deep.  Ideally to check all entries for a specific list of manufacturers.  I usually scan the daily records to see if there are any entries of interest, and I know that others do the same.  Finger slips are all too easy late at night!

I always look for data and occasionally buy, but there is not often anything new on eBay now.  It would be unfortunate if we were to bid against one another so this could be useful for the country curator to monitor.

I find the biggest difficulty is to determine when a valve was first released for sale.      Although I have kept multiple date copies of data books one can never be quite sure unless one has the complete set or the manufacturers SALES data that one has found the earliest.   With loose leaf documents the earliest pages were usually thrown away when an update was made.  However, with care we can find out a lot of release dates.

For radio valves this needs to be checked, of course, with set release dates to ensure that there is no conflict. Perhaps this should always be done if entering "for sure", but nor any "?" dates.

Kind regards,

Roy
