AMA is the best known brand during 1924-1949 and continued to make radio sets when the new PRC government took power in 1949, it finally was transformed to Shanghai No.26 Wireless Factory and the brand disappeared in 1966. From 1942 to 1945 there was no radio production.

AMA changed its name many times in history: Here some names in order of time:
1924: 亚美无线电股份有限公司 AMA Radio Co. Ltd, Shanghai (E).
1952: 亚美机电股份有限公司 AMA Mechanical and Electronic Co. Ltd.
1955: 上海亚美电器二厂 AMA No. 2 Electronic Factory.
1957: 上海亚美电器厂 AMA Electronic Factory.
1966: 上海无线电二十六厂 Shanghai No.26 Radio Factory.

Ama Radio Co., Ltd. had been established 1924 as the first Chinese domestic capital electronics company. In July 1952, AMA Radio Co., Ltd. merged with YaNan Fabrication Company and changed its name to AMA Mechanical and Electronic Co. Ltd. The Electronic Branch of AMA changed its name to AMA No.2 Electronic Factory in 1955, and became the AMA Electronic Factory in 1957. In 1966 it became the Shanghai No. 26 Wireless Factory.

Beginning in 1924 - as first Chinese electronic works
AMA was established on 8 Oct, 1924, by seven family relatives: SU Zufei, SU Zugui, SU Zuxiu, SU Zuguo, SU Zuyao, and SU Zuguang. AMA was the first Chinese domestic capital electronics company. AMA's major business is then selling radio parts, radio equipment and radio publications. It is the first native Chinese company who designed and manufactured crystal sets and vacuum tube radios.

1937: Japanese troops occupied Shanghai which greatly affected Shanghai's radio industry. AMA stopped radio manufacturing in 1942. When the War ended in 1945, AMA resumed its radio business.

After WW2
In 1949, the Chinese Nationalist government lost the civil war and the People's Republic of China was established. AMA merged with YaNai Fabrication Company. For the name of one part is was used AMA Mechanical and Electronic Co. Ltd. The Electronic Branch of AMA changed its name to AMA No. 2 Electronic Factory in 1955, then became AMA Electronic Factory in 1957.

In 1966, during the Cultural Revolution, AMA's name was changed to Shanghai No.26 Wireless Factory and AMA's legend finally ended.
