Watkins Electric Music (WEM) has always been - and still is owned and run by Charlie Watkins. In 1949 Watkins opened a record shop in Tooting Market, London with brother Reg Watkins. 1951 sale of guitars and Accordions. 1957 brother Reg opened a factory in Chertsey where he designed and produced the 2nd. British made solid electric guitar. 1958 invented the " Watkins Copicat" Echo unit.
