Siemens Spitzensuper 960 W exportausfuehrung Radio
? Siemens Spitzensuper 960 W exportausfuehrung Radio
Can anyone provide information about the Siemens Spitzensuper 960 W?
It looks like it is a cross between the Siemens Schatulle H-42, M-57 and the Kammermusik P-48.
Maybe this radio has the circuit of the H-42; looks like it has the speaker system of the M-57 and the frequency band coverage of the P48?
Where was this set exported? Europe? United States? South America?
How many tubes and types?
What is the frequency coverage?
I can find no reference to this radio either on RadioMuseum or anywhere else.
I have attached a picture of the front panel.
Please help. Thank you.
Regards,
Robert

Siemens Spitzensuper 960W

Dear Robert,
the pictured radio seems to be an export version of a Siemens "Schatulle", most probably comparable to the model Kammermusik-Schatulle M57.
We do not have your model 960W listed in RMorg, so please make a new model suggestion for it. You will find a link at the "Home" page of RMorg or here.
A bigger close-up picture of the dial glass will show us the frequency ranges and receiving bands, which may lead to the country where this radio has been exported to. The tube list you will find printed at the back cover.
Regards,
Bernhard

Hello Bernhard-
I have more pictures of the Siemens Spitzensuper 960W.
I made a new model suggestion on Radiomuseum. Where on this website do I upload the pictures I have of this radio?
Unfortunately I do not own this radio-- I have a chance to purchase but before I do I want to know more about this radio.
I will attempt to find out the frequency bands that this radio receives.
As you will see from my pictures there are enough differences between this radio and the other Siemens Schatulle models that I think this is a special radio.
The chassis looks a little like the one in the Schatulle H-42 but there are enough variances that it is definietly not the H-42.
The loudspeakers look a little like the M-57 but I do not see a cross-over network.
The dial looks a little like the P-48.
Regards,
Robert

Siemens 960W

Hello Robert,
thanks for showing more pictures of the Siemens 960W.
Some facts are now clear and your new model suggestion has been updated.
This model has Long Wave, Medium Wave and four Short Wave ranges. But no FM (UKW) reception. In my opinion not a model for the Northamerican market, more likely designated for regions in the world which has no FM in the 1950s. Maybe it was produced for e.g. Africa or India.
The Siemens 960W shares the shape and loudspeaker arrangement with the model M57, but has a total different chassis layout.
Regards,
Bernhard
