  • The Quanta series was BSR’s attempt to offer affordable, feature-rich turntables in response to the growing competition from Japanese manufacturers.

    The 1978 Quanta Series Featured;
     

    • Quanta 400: Fully automatic, single-play, belt-drive turntable with dust cover.
    • Quanta 500: Adds pitch control and a strobe to the 400’s features, for an extra $20.
    • Quanta 450: A changer version of the 400, allowing for multiple records to be played automatically.
    • Quanta 550: A changer version of the 500, with pitch control and strobe, and positioned as the top-of-the-line model in the series. It also featured an integrated circuit chip for electronic speed and pitch control, a strobe light, a computer-engineered rubber mat, and a slide-in cartridge shell. It was supplied with an ADC QLM-34 cartridge.
