  • Remarques
  • This is the early version of the "Two Step Amplifier" as it was officially called in ads. It is sometimes named 2-stage audio amplifier (or Amp.). In the middle of the two knobs for the two stations, there is a front panel switch to select one or two stages of amplification. Box has overhanging lid. There are at least three different versions regarding engraving: First version February 1922 with market introduction: straight without special logo: "Crosley two step amplifier" in one line. Second version May 1922 - engraving in two lines. Third version: Later or on the same time it was available without any engraving for the name. In 1923 it was not anymore on the market.

Here is a link to some sources for this model.
Later models have no such switch on the front and are a bit cheaper. The lid is integrated and without overhang. Those later models could be bought with or without engraving "Crosley Cincinnati TWO STEP AMPLIFIER" (including the logo) - with a price difference of one $.

The first catalog, early 1922, tells us that the two-step Amplifier can also be bought unmounted for $ 22.50 instead of $ 25 - and that the "amplifier cabinet is designed to match up uniformly with either the CROSLEY Detector Unit, the HARKO JUNIOR or the HARKO SENIOR."
