• Wireless set No. 17 Mk II

  A portable short-range VHF transceiver used for communications between searchlight sections, artillery batteries, and their headquarters, it did replace optical signaling equipment.

  • Frequency range: 44-64 MHz
  • ​Output Power: 0.3 W R/T only
  • Range: up to 15 miles
  • Powered: 120 V HT battery and 2 V LT accumulator
  • Antenna: dipole with an optional reflector or rhombic aerial.
  • Cabinet: The top section of the oak wood cabinet was taken by the transceiver chassis. In the bottom section has space for two 60V dry batteries (right-hand compartment), and a 2V 16Ah accumulator (left-hand compartment). Various types of aerials could be connected to sockets and terminals fitted on top of the set.  The microphone and headphones were permanently connected to the set.

  The Wireless set No. 17 includes a Wavemeter Mk II Cat. No Z.A. 17133.
