Wireless Set No.26 used by British Army als the earliest VHF radio link providing six duplex telephone channels simultaneously.
Two prototype sets from 1939 were sent over the channel with British Expeditionary forces to France for trials, one of the sets fell into enemy hands. The production sets have been in use very successfully for communications over the channel to Normandy and over the Messina strait.
The equipment has developed in collaboration with the GPO (postal services), where the sets have been used to establish telephone links to British islands.
