  • Anotaciones
  • Dual range FM generator, 1.9 to 4.5 and 19 to 45 MHz. Modulation: five steps from 150 to 5000 Hz, plus external; up to 50 kHz deviation. 500 kHz Xtal internal calibrator with self contained beat note monitor speaker. Modular design with four major subassemblies: power supply, AF modulator, Xtal calibrator, RF generator. Projection tuning dial with 1300 divisions, 2 kHz resolution over the high frequency band.
The equipment is heavy, due to its triple shielding: the panel, the cabinet, the RF sub-unit are all shielded by three layers of hard, silver plated, steel; all the vent holes are covered by a fine silvered mesh. TM-11-317 is the technical manual. Such units were at least by Detrola International in 1944. Well possible that it was started in 1942.

    The FM Signal Generator I-208 was used for instance for the system SCR-508 from 1942 for tanks like M5 Stuart, M7 Priest, M10 Wolverine, M24 Chaffee, M4 Sherman, M7 MT, T1 heavy, M36 Slugger, M4A3E2, M4A3E8 Sherman, M6, T20, T25 AT, T29, M26 Pershing, T23, T28, T32, M46 Patton, T34, T95.

The military Radio Set SCR-508 consists basically of Radio Transmitter BC-604 and two Radio Receivers BC-603. BC-604: 10 preset channels for FM voice with power output of 30 watts, frequency 27.9 Mc. Receiver BC-603: Superhet with IF 2.65 Mc, frequency 20 to 27.9 Mc. Further items which we list is the Frequency Meter Set I-129-B and the FM Signal Generator I-208.
