  • Bemerkung
  • The Panapet R-70 was on the market for a longer time than one season, but we don't know when the follower, model Panapet R-70S arrived. The original 5 colors were red, blue, green, yellow and white. The radios have a socket for an ear phone and incorporated is a ferrit antenna. Since the models have a chain, they are also called "Ball and Chain radio". The main difference is the battery: R-70 9 V, R-70S with 2 x 1.5 volt battery.

From " future-forms.com ": "The quirky ‘Panapet’, produced by Panasonic in 1970 to commemorate the World Expo in Osaka, was a ball-shaped radio that hung on a chain. Two chrome-plated dials on the surface controlled tuning and volume, and the tuning display itself was set into the ball. Initially released as an AM-only radio, customers could choose from red, yellow, white, blue and avocado green versions.

First exhibited at the World Expo in Osaka, the Panapet perfectly captured the playful pop spirit of the early 1970s. With its boldly futuristic spherical design and space age styling, it was an instant hit with the young and youthful-at-heart when it burst onto the scene."

In Germany marketed as National Expo-Kapsel R-70.

An identical-shaped LW-only (GO) model for the French market is Radiola RA010
