This particular Panapet R-70 model was made to commemorate the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. The radio was branded and distributed as a company souvenir to Tom Bowl related parties (company owners and employees?), and was never sold to the public.
Tom Bowl was a bowling alley located in Tomakomai City, Hokkaido. It opened in October 1971 with 36 lanes, and has since gone out of business. The bowling alley was run by the construction company Iwakura Gumi. Although Iwakura Gumi was not a sponsor of the Sapporo Hokkaido Olympics, they built an auxiliary speed skating stadium in Tomakomai in preparation for the games.
