• Philips RC generator model GM2317.

  Principle: Wien-bridge RC-oscillator using incandescent lamps as PTC resistor to stabilise loop gain and reduce distortion.

  Frequency range 20 Hz—250 kHz in 6 ranges.

  Output voltage 10 Veff to a load of 2000 ohms or higher.

  Other significant components: 4x OA56 or OA70 diodes as a signal rectifier for the output meter; The original documentation specifies OA56. In specimens from 1954 and later, OA70 is found.
  Diodes and lamps only listed once per type.

  The original schematic from 1953 shows 2x 8099Z incandescent lamps used as cathode resistor in the negative feedback loop. Most or all models found have different circuitry, using 4x 8099Z incandescent lamp in the positive feedback loop, a circuit that is also found in the successor models GM2317/01 and later, but using Noval valves. This improved circuit is found in GM2317 specimens from 1954 and later and may have been used even earlier.

  The round output meter with white round stripe is a recognisable feature of the GM2317. The more modern successors have square output meters.
