  • PYE 123BQ Transistors Portable Radio

Designed for use as an indoor cordless mantel or as a lightweight outdoor portable, the versitile PYE Transistor Portable give unparalleled "big radio" performance wherever you go. Utilising the modern printed circuit technique and incorporating the latest developments in radio engineering - including the revolutionary transistor - the PYE Transistor Portable is Australia's most advanced most reliable small radio. It is smartly styled in contempory Beige and luggage tan.

The Pye P123BQ, along with AWA model 897P, would be a contender for one of the first Australian made transistor radio.

This Australian made radio differs from the British made Pye P123BQ in not covering the long wave band. (Not used in Australia). Alternatives to the transistors listed are given in the service data.  However, it is not clear whether these were used in production or are listed for the benefit of service technicians looking for a substitute.

An example has been sighted dated 1957 using G.E. transistors types 2N137, 2N138, 2N192 and 2N320, which are not listed as alternatives in the service manual but appear to be original.
