I have got a nice R820,however I had a problem: particularly on the high end of bands the frequency was drifty,it goes for ex from 7500 to 7900khz,sometimes the display swiched out.I supposed that the cause was in the VFO.After downloading the service manual,I removed the VFO unit,happily it is easy to do.As I supposed the cause was the flat spring on the variable capacitor rotor. I put deoxyd,and I retensioned it by adding a glued little piece under the edge of the spring.Since I have done this,no trouble appears again,the display is  stable and there is no frequency drift.I hope this can help owners of this marvellous receiver.I have put a picture of the VFO open.
