  • Bemerkung
  • The Lafayette 5-tube TRF for Short Waves "Wild World" (in catalog 1931 page 60 as Wideworld - in one word) needs a separate power unit with a UX-280 tube. This "Wild World" power pack costs $ 18.00 separate. For addl. $ 5.00 it can operate from 25 cycle mains. The Wild World receiver is supplied with the coils for operation from 14 to 115 meters wave length. Extra coils per pair cost $ 3.24: "Brown" 9-15 m, "Blue" 115-200 m, "Orange" 200 - 360 m, "Yellow" 350 - 550 m. For the 20 and the 20 m band there are band spread coils, $ 3.82 per pair. The tubes cost $ 8.88. The "Wild World" chassis only is $ 45.50. It has a push-pull output. The cabinet is separate for $ 4.00. See details and summaries in this catalog.

In the catalog 1931 which arrived in about Autumn 1930, the Lafayette price for the "Wideworld short wave receiver" was $ 63.50 (list $ 139.00) with coils fro 14 to 115 meters and Power supply - less tubes. RCA tubes $ 8.88 and extra coils $ 3.24 per pair. See picture details and see details and summaries for the models of this catalog 1931 (season 1930/31).

In 1931/32 one can find the same cabinet and chassis but fitted with other tubes as battery set or with the separate power pack (AC). The AC model Wide World SW Receiver was then sold as chassis for $ 45.50 less tubes and power pack, power pack for $ 18.00, cabinet $ 4.00, RCA tubes $ 5.80. At additional cost the power pack can also handle 25 cycles. The battery model of the Wide World SW Receiver had a price of $ 43.50. See details or summaries about this catalog.
