  • The Weagant Three was a compact three‑valve receiver design published in Wireless Weekly in December 1927. It was intended for home construction and used the Aladdin 3‑Coil Universal Tuner, a versatile coil assembly manufactured by Aladdin Radio Co. Pty. Ltd., and also distributed by Airzone Ltd.

    The Aladdin Tuner combined primary, secondary, and reaction coils in a single unit, simplifying wiring and allowing the constructor to adapt the circuit for regenerative, Browning‑Drake, or superheterodyne configurations. Its design made the Weagant Three particularly neat and efficient, with excellent sensitivity and selectivity for local and interstate stations.

    Circuit Description
    The receiver employed:

    • One valve as the detector using the regenerative principle.
    • Two valves for audio‑frequency amplification via transformer coupling.
    • The Aladdin 3‑Coil Tuner served as the RF input and reaction coil assembly.

    Two variable condensers (.00035 µF and .00025 µF) controlled tuning and reaction. A single rheostat regulated filament current for all valves. The circuit was adaptable to various triodes such as PM3 & PM4.
    Recommended battery voltages were 4 V for filaments, 45 V for the detector plate, and 90 V for the audio stages. A 4 V C‑battery provided grid bias.

    Cabinet and Layout
    The set was built on a hard‑rubber or Dilecto panel (18 × 7 inches) with a wooden baseboard. Front‑panel features included:

    • Two Pilot Art‑Craft Dials for tuning condensers
    • One reaction control knob linked to the Aladdin Tuner
    • Three valve sockets
    • Two A.W.A. Superaudio transformers
    • Elmaco battery switch and headphone jack
