Description

RCA developed this tube in 1933 in answer to Ken Rad's KR-1. It was capable of supplying 50 mA and had a low voltage drop of 15 through the use of closely spaced elements. It was soon discovered that, in use the tube could not operate in certain weather conditions. In June 1933 RCA announced the 1v which had no mercury.
