E_Marconi

The MWT Type "E" appears in several engineering drawings of the 1916 time frame. According to these engineering documents Marconi Wireless was working on a 1-tube receiver as well as several vacuum tube detectors to replace the crystal detectors on their crystal receivers. All these new sets were utilizing the Type "E" as a vacuum tube detector. It is unknown who actually made the Type E.

In late 1914: Marconi sued Deforest over the Fleming valve infringement and then in late 1914 / early 1915: De Forest files answer + counterclaim (Audion/triode infringement claims) for the D_Marconi infringing the Audion thrree electrode patent. It is believed MWT quit producing a triode themselves because of the pending litigation.Because of the distinct similarities seen in the engineering drawings to a Western Electric repeater tube It is believed MWT then reached out to Western Electric to acquire repeater tubes such as the Western Electric M_Western for possible use as a detector while the Deforest litigation was pending.
