Description

1,7A; 40...60V. Not a UV socket! Correct name is just 876. Rider shows error e.g. for RCA AP-951.

Sibley in Tube Lore lists the UV-876 as alternate code for 876. Moreover well in the '30s RCA still advertised most of its early transmitting tubes, all with UV prefixes, regardless of the base. See UV203, UV204A or even UV217.

This tube is used in series with the primary of suitably designed transformer to maintain essentially constant input voltage to the primary over a range of line variation of 20 volts. It was designed to operate on a sixty cycle mains voltage power supply
