Tyne page 319: In September 1926 RCA asked their manufacturing companies to work on an ac tube. Two months later Westinghouse submitted samples of the tube designated UX226. The samples were structurally the UX201A, had oxide-coated filaments which took 1.05 amperes at 1.5 volts, and a total emission of about 100 milliamperes. ...
The UX226 was announced in September 1927 and advertised (C-326) by Cunningham in December.
The UX226 was first used in both the radio- and audio-frequency amplifier stages of the Radiola 17.
