An interesting technical description of the TR1 appeared in the Funkschau magazine issue 05 of 1956.

The TR1 is the first portable transistor radio built by Telefunken and was distributed to a limited number of units (~100) for experimental and evaluation purposes.

It was never sold officially. It is as we would call it today the beta version of the "Partner I".

This explains also the record prices reached by this unit today.

A digitized and translated version of the Funkschau article can be found HERE.
