  • BREVILLE RADIO

    Zip Automatic Tuning Model.

The Breville Model 124, a 5-valve A.C. electric dual wave superheterodyne receiver, is fitted with the most modern form of typewriter key of automatic tuning. Briefly, the tuning is by a series of heart-shaped cams, mounted on a spindle. When a selected key is depressed, a steel roller moves the cam and turns it, which results in the gang turning also, and when it stops after the full extent of the cam's turn, the desired station is tuned in. The gang can be locked so that any particular station desired may be tuned by merely depressing the key.

The station tuned in automatically can be changed whenever the whim of the owner desires a change. The zip automatic tuners, as the word implies, give instant tuning, the button is pressed, and the pointer moves like a flash to the desired station. No switching is required to change from automatic to manual control, and any eight stations can be selected automatically on the keyboard.

Supreme Radio, Station Square, Nambour, the local distributors for Breville Radio, have this model in stock and a demonstration reveals the simplicity of operation when using both manual and automatic controls.

This receiver possesses remarkable tonal quality and extreme sensitivity and selectivity. The Breville 124 has a speaker of the ten-inch concert type.

The control panel is most impressive, for apart from the long oblong dial and the automatic tuning keys, there also appears on the panel the manual tuning control, the volume control, the wave change switch, and a special tone monitor.

The receiver is fitted in a beautiful cabinet of modern design.

The Breville Model 125, 5-valve  Vibratoc dual wave is also fitted with 'automatic tuning.

There are two levels of selectivity.

It was available in four different console cabinet styles. The price below is for the "Rugby" cabinet.
