hi everyone.....

as a new member i would like to begin with a question.

has anyone heard of the GRUNDIG 5048 WD/3D........or am i the only person in the world that owns one?

i cant imagine this would be the case, but if im wrong it means that all my time looking for a sister or a brother to this set....................is a complete waste of time.

the truth is that i have acquired this set and since i have had it, i cannot find anyone else who owns one and more importantly....i cant find any references to it................anywhere!!

i have tried various people around the world who sell these german masterpieces, others who fix them, i have tried google, i have tried other forums.....and its always met, with a disappointing result.

the radio itself is a real beauty.

as im new to this lovely forum, i am still finding my way through and i hope to find a way to set up some photos of this wonderful radio to show you.

i know it sings beautifully, its made in germany around 1954,

it has 10 valves, and 4 speakers and the dial reads:

mw,sw1,sw2,sw3,sw4,sw5,sw6, and sw7..........there is no fm.

the front grille says hifi sound on the bottom left hand corner and grundig 5048 on the top right hand corner.

with all that.........i am hoping that someone out there has some sort of news about this elusive set and will reply to me by saying:

" you knucklehead....you havent looked hard enough, because i have one!!"

i am hoping to hear from you in that case.

cheers
marc
