    powered by LT 3 V and HT 218 V dry batteries;
    used by British Army for short communications in forward areas between company and battalion HQ as fixed ground station or carried as man-pack on march;
    the set came in a steel cabinet with hinged covers on a Bergen type rucksack frame and is covered with a canvas hood. The transmitter section is found at top and the receiver at the bottom in the metal frame.
    The set was produced by Pye and Murphy, during 1940, they changed production from the heavy steel cabinet (49 lbs) to a lighweight version within two months, the latter set became the popular Wireless Set 18.
