I'm newbie here and this is my first post. I recently got a Schaub Transatlantic 55 that misses the EL12 valve. I have found in ebay a EL12N. Can I replace the EL12 by the EL12N?

Der Schaub Transatlantik ist der Nachfolger (kurze Zeit auch parallel laufend) des Schaub SG55 mit verbesserter Schaltung (NF), Ortssender Taste und 3 Lautsprecher Kombination. Der SG55 wurde nur in der Zwischensaison 54 / 55 gebaut und ist entsprechend selten, der Transatlantik war das höchstentwickelte Gerät nach dem Krieg von Schaub, fand aber nur geringe Abnehmer. Das lag wohl am Preis von 629 DM und an der Tatsache das das Gerät nicht der neuesten Mode entsprach und keinen 3D-Klang hatte.
Auch ging das Interesse an hochgezüchteten AM Empfängern zurück - UKW war gefragt. So blieb das Gerät ein Ladenhüter und ist heute sehr selten zu finden.
Auch wurde das Gerät in der Folgezeit nicht billig verramscht - das Gerät blieb aber 2 Jahre im Programm und wurde nur 100 DM billiger im Jahre 1956.
Die Produktionsstückzahlen waren auch vergleichweise klein - vielleicht glaubte man bei Schaub selber nicht an einen Verkaufserfolg.
