  • The model 80-X is most probably the domestic version of the model 80. There is also an early version with 78 as 1st det. The dealers brochure shows data and picture for this, but Rider's Sparton 5-15 etc. shows a 6A7 as 1st det. for the probably newer model 80 which might also have an other knob arrangement. The 80 models offer 4 bands, from broadcast 540 kHz right through SW to 20 MHz. See the article here about season 1934/35.

    There are similar cabinets with chassis 83: one with the VisoGlo tuning indicator and the other without but in principle the same chassis.
