I have got one of those Philips 371A/15.

They seem to be British Made. Some of them seem to have a Philips-Symbol on the left side, and some not.

Does anyone know, how this came about?

Hello Bruce,

The Philips 371As (and 371Us) should all have a badge on the left hand front, Trouble is, they tend to fall off, indeed the badge was missing from my 371A when I acquired it but luckily I managed to find a replacement. It is the same metal badge fitted to many other 1940s Philips sets built in Europe.

Regards ..........Howard

Thank you, Howard

I thought, they might have run out of it because of the times in the forties ;)

I have to look for a replacement then, one finds copies of the badges in Holland, it will be one of those.

Thanks again!

Come to think, Howard, what kind of glue did they use at that time? I cannot spot any residu on the bakelite, and I would expect to see that (see picture in the collection of the radiomuseum). No hole either ... Do you have a picture of your radio, before you fitted the emblem?

Nowadays there are glues that stick as hell - were those available at the time? (Maybe not, you might say, for all the emblems fell off, hihi...)

Hello Bruce

Here's a pic of my Philips 371A without its badge, there was no glue residue  .....

I don't know what glue was originally used, but it wasn't very good !

And here is the correct badge for this set, in need of a bit of touch-up paint .....

I used a spot of superglue to stick it on.

Regards ............ Howard

PS: The white paint around the inside rims of the two front knobs is incorrect and has since been removed.
